Peter Tabuns re-elected in Toronto-Danforth
Peter Tabuns was again re-elected as the NDP MPP for Toronto-Danforth. Peter won today's election after receiving almost 23,000 votes, giving him a 13,650-vote margin of victory over the distant second-place candidate.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you Toronto-Danforth. Your support and encouragement over the last month uplifted and propelled us forward. And I'm absolutely honoured by the clear vote of confidence you gave us yesterday. My sincerest gratitude Toronto-Danforth for once again trusting in me to be your voice at Queen's Park. - Peter Tabuns
While honoured by the result in Toronto-Danforth, in an election night interview with Alexander Varoutas of Beach Metro News, Peter did not mince his words about Doug Ford and the PCs: "This is not a government that should be running Ontario” Peter said. He added "I think that their popularity is not going to last. I think that the arrogance that they showed at the beginning of their term, the disinterest in the needs of common people will become manifest in the next four years."
Peter and his team will now continue their work serving consistuents and take action on issues such as the climate crisis, better funding for health care and education as well as addressing affordable housing. “Obviously, housing is still a critical issue, so continuing to fight, not only to get affordable housing in the riding, but to protect the affordable housing we do have” said Peter.
